Why Grades Can’t Be Guaranteed

While we handle all books with the utmost care, comic books are inherently fragile. CGC grading is performed by an independent third party, and final grades are determined solely by CGC based on their evaluation standards.

Because of this, no specific CGC grade can be guaranteed.

Understanding CGC Grades

For reference, CGC generally classifies grades as follows:

• 10.0 – Extremely rare (often compared to a “unicorn” ?)

• 9.9 – Very rare

• 9.8–9.0 – Near Mint (excellent grades for modern comics)

Grades in the Near Mint range are highly desirable and commonly considered strong additions to any modern comic collection.
